The Bowmans are vampires who have quietly run the local barbecue joint in their small town for years, living off cow's blood. Their peaceful coexistence ends as generations of hate, fear and bad blood bubble to the surface- making it impossible to separate man from monster!

Texan vampires fight Texan Christians in the mightily underwhelming first volume of Redneck.
The thin story is unnecessarily convoluted given how simplistic it is, the characters are a hateable bunch of dreary idiots and Lisandro Esterren’s artwork is absolutely horrible and ugly – we’re talking high school level doodling. Worse, the comic is narrated in a pompous, self-important and unconvincing “wise” tone that it hasn’t earned. Like his other unimpressive Image series God Country, Donny Cates

“You don’t get happy endings when you live forever.”
One of the best volumes I’ve read all year. Like vampires meets Southern Bastards. Drama, action, horror, historical fiction, and some fantastic gritty artwork. It has that classic horror feel with dynamic characters in a very real Deep South. Thanks to Image Comics for the advanced copy. Check it out!

Well, I’ve been reading Southern Bastards and Outcast, and have read Preacher, so seem to be reading me somma that finger-lickin' good southern gothic horror (not all those three fit that description neatly, I know, but in my mind at least they bear similarities). While waiting for more Outcast and Southern Bastards, I read this and was pretty underwhelmed.
This is Southern Bastards meets vampires, which I don't think Southern Bastards really ne

This is EASILY one of the best Graphic Novels I've read this year. And that's out of 390+ graphic novels. Come on folks, gather around, we have a winner.
Let me make it clear. I don't like vampires. I find most versions of these bloodsuckers kind of boring. I just don't get the appeal to be honest. I mean I love some stories like Salem's Lot but for the most part they are just not for me. So I went into Redneck really not expecting much. I never even read anything by Donny Cates. After this titl

Good-old boy vampires try to live in peace in Texas. They butcher cows for the local BBQ joint and drink their blood. But then one day one of their vampire teenagers is left going up in flames on their front lawn and their Hatfield and McCoy type feud with the Landry's starts up again.
The art in the book is terrible. It looks like chicken scratch, making the story difficult to follow in places. The little girl vampire, Perry, was the only character I found interesting. She was the only member of

Just didnt do it for me. Vampire stories have to be amazing to hook me. This story had a plot that was really thin and I felt it was stretched alot further than it should have gone. The pencil sketch art also didnt work for me.

Not the best artwork. Still enjoyed the backstory and had fun reading this. Wonder where they take the story next.
This graphic novel plants vampire horror into rural Texas. It was Ok, some scary imagery, but at the same time I feel as if I've read or watched much of this story before.
WOW..LOVED IT..A DARK TWIST OF WONDERFUL AMAZEMENT..AMAZING WRITING AND PLOT..SUCH A UNIQUE TAKE ON NOT JUST THE USUAL VAMPIRES WHERE THEY ARE EITHER EVIL OR GOOD BUT A THOUGHTFUL TAKE ON THE INNER WORKINGS OF PEOPLE WHO LIVE FOREVER AND SEE OR DO THINGS NORMAL HUMANS CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE..WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL
I very much enjoyed this offbeat vampire graphic novel. It revolves around a family of Texas vamps that depend on cow blood for sustenance and attempt to keep a low profile until their hateful grandfather puts their existence in jeopardy. It is so well written and I particularly liked the gritty but distinctive illustrations. I wholeheartedly recommend this title.

Ever watched Supernatural?
I do upon occasion and couldn’t help thinking, “So, this is what happens to the lives after Sam and Dean leave town.”.
This first volume encapsulates and takes the reader on a new and fascinating direction on vampires, families and the lifelong struggle of tolerance, acceptance, vengeance and love.
It’s written only in the way Cates is famous for-written brilliantly.
The collaborative art work is exceptional. It pulls the reader into the story. Written word and art is flaw

Full-blooded vampire tale, deep in the heart of Texas and with a Wild West backstory; Cates's script is pacy and layered - though I don't buy for one second (view spoiler)[that post-vampire Landry would be so quickly accepted into the family (hide spoiler)] - and Estherren's very loose and stylised art is hugely atmospheric.
(Read as single issues.)

This was truly excellent. The best vampire story I've read in ages. These vampires are a family living in seclusion, minding their own business, drinking their own cattle's blood, in a small town for over a century. However, there is a feud going on between the Bowmans and the townsfolk family the Landrys, sort of a Hatfield and McCoy thing. For a hundred years it's been one of ours, one of theirs and so forth. But there has been relative peace, at least no dead, for a long spell now until one o..more
Wow! Just wow. I read this after the rather dull God Country and was just blown away by the storytelling. This is the best Texas vampire story since Near Dark. The artwork isn't all that great, but the storytelling blows it out of the water. This is amazing, amazing stuff and I need to have more of it, right now!!!

I like this graphic novel 'Redneck' by Donny Cates. Interest twist on vampires. Characters and back story were well written. But the identity of the villian was obvious. Looking forward to future series books. I recommend to people who like Graphic Novels.
This is a great quick read! I can't wait for my husband and son to also read it. This is the 2nd graphic novel I've ever read, and I'm so glad I started reading them!

The Bowman family are good ol' boys who love their guns and pickup trucks. They are also vampires who have tried to live quietly among the other folks in the area. Making their living by primarily running the local barbecue joint, with the help of some humans who do the day-to-day management of the place. By living off cow's blood, the Bowman's, along with the 'younger' sister and cantankerous Grandfather, kept in the attic and not quiet ready to die yet, the family just tries to get along.

Donny Cates is the goddam man.
This is exceptional. It’s a familiar genre. Vampires in the modern day south. Kinda like True Blood.. but nothing like True Blood. Way the fuck better than True Blood.
There’s a wonderful family aspect. Now that I’ve become familiar with Donny’s work (Cosmic Ghose Rider, Venom, God Country, Thanos Wins, Thanos Annual and now this), I’m starting to really pick up on his style. The guy has a lot to say about family, and best believe that’s what this one focuses on.

A family of vampires have been hiding out in Texas for the better part of a century when one of the younger ones turns up dead in the sunlight one morning. Did the local snake handler reverend type--whose family has been enemies of the vampires since the time of the Alamo--do it? Was it someone else? And what happens when the only witness is a drunk adopted vampire brother who doesn't remember a thing, and there's the creepy old thing that barely looks human in the attic the others call 'Grandpa..more

It's not like vampire stories like this haven't been done before but I'm a sucker for sympathetic ones that root for the underdog. And yes, the vampires in Redneck are the downtrodden, having had to keep their true selves in check for the betterment of the Texan small town they live in. The series is like having a Black Hammer filter on True Blood stripped of its R-rated stuff, and it's quite enjoyable. I love the artwork in this, and I'm actually looking forward to the 'To be continued..' en..more

I have never read a book about redneck vampires so I thought this graphic novel was kind of fun.
It also shows that holding a grudge against a family only brings bad things.
The Bowmans love their family and their guns and they have a BBQ joint. They raise cows and drain the blood to drink and use the meat to make mighty fine BBQ.
The older siblings are getting tired of being hidden away, and decide to go to town but something horrible happens and brings their world crashing down.

More a 3.5 star review. I liked it but did not love it. The storyline was decent as was the artwork. It just wasn't great. Enjoyed going through the centuries old battle between the Bowman's and the Landry's. Each family has had issues with each other. Same ole story but with a vampire twist to it. The artwork was colorful, enjoyable and creepy sometimes. They did an excellent job on grandpa. There was an occasion that I couldn't tell the difference between some characters but it was not a const..more
The first half of this is very story driven and entertaining. Some of the early events see characters killed off before they can get any form of arc. The second half is largely set up for the second volume so it is difficult to give a fair rating. The events being set up seem to be teetering on a fine line of a really great follow up installment or let down. I will definitely pick up the second volume as to find out which side of the line we will land.

I like some of the stuff they did with the mythology of vampires, and the art is cool, but not too much else.
It seems like it will be the story of a Vampire family living in Texas, and, I would guess, trying to keep that hidden from town folks, but it's not. I don't want to spoil it, but it seems like what this series will be isn't what it seems to be promising.
I don't know about this one. I'm tempted to give it another volume but it's not high on the list.

Run the Road is a series of compilations released on 679 Recordings and Vice. It is intended to showcase a wide variety of grime artists from the genre such as Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and Kano.

Run the Road's Musical Implications[edit]

Run the Road served as an advertisement to the United States of the various, young, future stars currently performing in the grime scene. Artists such as Lady Sovereign, featured on the track 'Cha Ching,' despite having some recognition in Britain, still long to gain success in the United States and become an international star.[1] Run the Road features some of the hungriest young stars of the UK and has been described as the 'first real showcase of the UK's grime scene.'[2]
